Step #17...shingles on the roof!

We have shingles! YAY! The whole roof isn't shingled, but we have made progress. They finished the sheeting on the east side of the house and all of the gables.

Here are the shingles!

Wednesday, November 28th

Well, my camera is not broken. I won't go into details, but apparently not all batteries are created equal. Whatever. They are finishing up the OSB on the outside of the house today. I met Phil, aka. Mr. Cabinet Man, at the house today and we mapped out the kitchen plan. It was really fun! They are going to start on the shingles tomorrow, which should be interesting, since it's supposed to rain/snow tonight. Stay tuned!

This is the living room! I am taking this picture standing in the kitchen. You can see the cathedral ceiling.

Here you can see they finally sheeted the front of the bonus room. They completed the back while I was there and started on the east side.

Here is the bonus room above the garage. It's hard to take a picture of it, because the window is so bright! But it's a great-sized room and will make a perfect guest room!

My handy hubby drilling holes for the wire.

Here the newly framed basement bedroom, bathroom and storage room. My other storage room recently because Dave's pool table room. I'm still not sure how I feel about that. We'll see how this all plays out. You can see where the stairs come down. The room is on the left of the picture, the bathroom is on the backwall on the right, and there is a short hallway where the storage room is.

Here is looking into the bedroom.

Okay, this is a weird angle, so you'll have to ues your imagination. The doorway on the left is the bathroom. The doorway on the right is my storage room.

Tuesday, November 27

Only one new picture today. My camera is on the fritz, so it only allowed me to take one picture before shutting down. Boo camera!

If I could have taken pictures, I would have taken them of the newly framed basement bedroom and bathroom. Yippee! Both staircases are also completely done and they are moving right along! Hopefully, they will be installing the rest of the windows today. Dave and Jason are going to start running wire today, and the plumber is coming out to finish his rough in of the well. Progress!

It is a balmy 33 degrees right now...a great day for getting things done! I also bought a pair of new rubber boots, so my work shoes won't get muddy back there anymore. They were a mess from yesterday.

Here is the front of the house. It's got a nice frost on the top of the tar paper! Someday we will get shingles too!

Step #16...windows and stairs

We left for Thanksgiving holiday and when we got back, they finished the stairs and put in some windows! And now it is a mudpit, since we got rain and sleet over the weekend. My boots are a muddy mess.
When I left this morning, Dave and Kyle were figuring out where to frame up the walls for the basement bedroom and bathroom. Hope they make good decisions!

You can kind of see the windows that are in the front.

If you look carefully, you can see Dave in the bonus room above the garage. They finished putting the sheeting down this weekend.

Here they are putting the stairs going up to the bonus room.

Here are the completed stairs to the bonus room. There will be a closet underneath the staircase.

Step #15...Roof Sheeting

God bless these boys! They worked Saturday AND Sunday to get the roof sheeting done. They are still finishing up a few things, but it really looks like a house now! They even started putting up tar paper. We are supposed to get rain/snow tomorrow and Wednesday, so we'll see how that goes! Hopefully it will hold off!! I really want to get the roof shingled soon!

It's not a huge house, but it's great for us! We love it already!!

This is going to be picture overload, since i have three or four days worth to show!

This is from this morning. Dave finally got to see the house! He's standing on the roof on the left side. I'm sure Buddy is telling him some inappropriate joke. Good thing Hallie isn't older!

Step #14 continued...more trusses!

Wow, you can really see what the house is going to look like! The truss company shorted us ONE truss, so we are delayed (surprise, surprise). It should be going on today or tomorrow, which means we get to pay for another day (or two) for the boom truck rental. Yuck.
They should start sheeting with OSB today and hopefully get started on the roofing process. Please pray, because we have rain in the forecast for three days next week. I know we desperately need rain, but if it could just hold off until we get that roof on, that would be GREAT!

Another fun tidbit of information is that I completely sank in the mud this morning, trying to take pictures. I was running to the back of the house and figured that the ground would be hard by now. Nope. My shoes got stuck, but I kept moving. So my socks got completely muddy and the bottoms of my pants are dirty too. I had to go back and retrieve my shoes, which were buried, and then go barefoot into the house to change my shoes AND my socks. *sigh* It was not a great way to start off the morning. And did I mention that Hallie was screaming in the car while I did all of this?

Front view...you can see where they are missing a truss on the right side.

This is the shot that I took while sinking in mud.

Step #14...Up go the Trusses!

It was so exciting to get off work yesterday, drive around the corner and see our ROOF from the road! Very fun! So, I pulled over and took a picture from the road, what people can see when they drive by. I'm a dork. I just feel so blessed!!! I took a TON of pictures, and I'm sure they thought I was nuts. Oh well!

They completed the west side of the house...the garage, bonus room, master bed/bath and the laundry room/half bath area. I drove back this morning and they were just putting the very first truss of the main part of the house. However, their generator "took a crap" (Kyle's words, not mine), so we'll see how that affects progress today.

This is (obviously) a view from the front of the house.

This is taken from the south east corner.

That's Kyle!

I would throw up if I was that high up.

Step #13...Cut out Windows/Doors and Tyvek time!

We had a rain delay on Monday and the ground was still really muddy yesterday. So they went ahead and cut out the holes for the windows and doors and started wrapping the house in Tyvek.
The boom truck is sitting at the house, ready to be used! I talked to Kyle this morning and they are moving ahead on the trusses! I'm excited to get home and see the progress. This is NOT a good week for Dave to head to the east coast! Stupid Sara Evans!
