Monday, December 17

Mooooooore siding. I even got to help put some on! Very exciting. It snowed like crazy on Saturday, so they guys didn't come out to keep going. So far, we have about half of the house sided. The heat/ac guy came out on Friday afternoon, so hopefully they will get started digging the coils for the geothermal soon.

Poor, lonely puppy!

Buddy up on the roof. Right after I took this picture, Dave and I climbed up and put the VERY top corner piece in.

Here's the roof from the top!

Here's the pond all snowy and icy.

The front is all sided!

More of the siding

More siding, the east side of the house.

The laundry room niche.

A meeting of the minds.

My stupid, muddy boot.

Step #18...Siding

Siding is going up. It's so nasty outside, so they haven't made much more progress. The last picture is how beautiful the pond looks, even though it is slicker than snot outside.

Tuesday, December 11

Well, we have made progress. But, due to the severe ice storms that have left us without power, there are no new pictures to post. We lost power on Sunday morning, and Hallie and I managed to make it over to Barb's to stay the night. We stayed Sunday and Monday, and then they lost power last night at 11pm. So we all had to go to Lucille's this morning to take showers and get ready for work. They have declared Jacksonville a state diaster zone. Fun. Dave just called and said that our power was back up though, so at least I can shower in my own house tonight!! And I can stop dragging around all of our stuff everywhere we go.

In regards to the house, they have completed the siding on the garage front and the laundry room part of the house. They are back today to continue siding the rest of the house. The soffitt and facia are up and everything looks great!

We did have a loss in the family...our dog, Burt. He was a great dog, and will be missed. His sister, Zoey, doesn't know what to do with herself. She just sits on the front porch and waits for him to come home. Very sad.

Thursday, December 6.

Yesterday they got the front door in! It will look a lot better once it gets painted! Almost all of the windows are in now, except for the bonus room window and the basement room window. They have also Tyvek'd most of the house, with just a few more places to do. Unfortunately, we hit a little snag with all of the other exterior doors, so we have to reorder and try again in two weeks. Oh well.

Here are the living room windows and french doors. The french door hole is covered with Tyvek.

Here is the glass-block window in Hallie's bathroom.

Here are the breakfast nook windows.

And the back of the house.

Tuesday, December 5

Not a whole lot of progress. The shingles are completed...I think. They are supposed to be working on the soffit and facia, so hopefully that will move things along. I just want to get this thing totally enclosed. I want siding, I want shingles, I want it all!

Step #17...shingles on the roof!

We have shingles! YAY! The whole roof isn't shingled, but we have made progress. They finished the sheeting on the east side of the house and all of the gables.

Here are the shingles!

Front view

Close up of the shingles.

East side of the house. The little window will actually be glass blocks in Hallie's bathroom.

This is one of the doors leading out to the back deck. It is a loooong way down.

Wednesday, November 28th

Well, my camera is not broken. I won't go into details, but apparently not all batteries are created equal. Whatever. They are finishing up the OSB on the outside of the house today. I met Phil, aka. Mr. Cabinet Man, at the house today and we mapped out the kitchen plan. It was really fun! They are going to start on the shingles tomorrow, which should be interesting, since it's supposed to rain/snow tonight. Stay tuned!

This is the living room! I am taking this picture standing in the kitchen. You can see the cathedral ceiling.

Here you can see they finally sheeted the front of the bonus room. They completed the back while I was there and started on the east side.

Here is the bonus room above the garage. It's hard to take a picture of it, because the window is so bright! But it's a great-sized room and will make a perfect guest room!

My handy hubby drilling holes for the wire.

Here the newly framed basement bedroom, bathroom and storage room. My other storage room recently because Dave's pool table room. I'm still not sure how I feel about that. We'll see how this all plays out. You can see where the stairs come down. The room is on the left of the picture, the bathroom is on the backwall on the right, and there is a short hallway where the storage room is.

Here is looking into the bedroom.

Okay, this is a weird angle, so you'll have to ues your imagination. The doorway on the left is the bathroom. The doorway on the right is my storage room.

Tuesday, November 27

Only one new picture today. My camera is on the fritz, so it only allowed me to take one picture before shutting down. Boo camera!

If I could have taken pictures, I would have taken them of the newly framed basement bedroom and bathroom. Yippee! Both staircases are also completely done and they are moving right along! Hopefully, they will be installing the rest of the windows today. Dave and Jason are going to start running wire today, and the plumber is coming out to finish his rough in of the well. Progress!

It is a balmy 33 degrees right now...a great day for getting things done! I also bought a pair of new rubber boots, so my work shoes won't get muddy back there anymore. They were a mess from yesterday.

Here is the front of the house. It's got a nice frost on the top of the tar paper! Someday we will get shingles too!

Step #16...windows and stairs

We left for Thanksgiving holiday and when we got back, they finished the stairs and put in some windows! And now it is a mudpit, since we got rain and sleet over the weekend. My boots are a muddy mess.
When I left this morning, Dave and Kyle were figuring out where to frame up the walls for the basement bedroom and bathroom. Hope they make good decisions!

You can kind of see the windows that are in the front.

If you look carefully, you can see Dave in the bonus room above the garage. They finished putting the sheeting down this weekend.

Here they are putting the stairs going up to the bonus room.

Here are the completed stairs to the bonus room. There will be a closet underneath the staircase.
Here are the stairs going down to the basement.

Windows in the master bedroom.

Here's Hallie!

Step #15...Roof Sheeting

God bless these boys! They worked Saturday AND Sunday to get the roof sheeting done. They are still finishing up a few things, but it really looks like a house now! They even started putting up tar paper. We are supposed to get rain/snow tomorrow and Wednesday, so we'll see how that goes! Hopefully it will hold off!! I really want to get the roof shingled soon!

It's not a huge house, but it's great for us! We love it already!!

This is going to be picture overload, since i have three or four days worth to show!

Back of the house. Johnny is up putting the tar paper on!

This is the view coming in the driveway.

Front of the house. You can see the black tar papered parts.

This is from this morning. Dave finally got to see the house! He's standing on the roof on the left side. I'm sure Buddy is telling him some inappropriate joke. Good thing Hallie isn't older!
