Stamped Concrete...it's messy.

I gave up.

I made Dave take the curtains and curtain rod down, spackle up the holes and Barb will hopefully touch up the paint tonight. God bless them both for bearing with me through this whole thing. I just couldn't do it. While the curtains do look nice in the pictures below, they just didn't fit with the rest of the house.

Our house has an extremely open floor plan, and it just wasn't working. So...I'm starting over. I'm going to start in the breakfast nook, per my MIL's wise suggestion, and do something small and light for those windows.

I will then work my way into the LR and probably do roman shades on the windows of the french door and maybe (MAYBE) something on the arch windows. The DR needs curtains too.

Here are the fabrics that I love. The paisley will be in the LR, the check will be in the breakfast nook, and the tweed and maybe the paisley will be in the DR. These pictures look a little yellow, but they are NOT yellow in person.

Getting Worse Before it Gets Better?

Things were getting better. I was loving my antique mirrors and my new console table with lamp, etc. I got my curtains in, and i LOVED them...and now I don't think they work. They are SO heavy, and I think they are too *much* for the space. Plus, the color isn't doing anything against my wall. I thought it would be a nice way to add texture, but it's not adding anything but weight.

One Hot Mess - update

So I switched lamps around, added a stool underneath to hide the cords, had Dave hang up the clock and cut the flowers down to fit in the vase. I think I'm going to look for some berries or more filler to make the flowers a little more full. Dave also hung up the mirrors (notice that one is broken...you can thank Miss Hallie for that), and I love the!

One Hot Mess

I am missing the mark. I know I am. Nothing is working.

I went with Barb to Pier One last night and found some Japanese Lantern thingy fake plants. I love the orange, but I'm not sure if they are working here. I haven't cut them to size, in case I need to take them back, but I don't know if the "drape" of the plants is okay, or if I should get somethign more straight and fuller.

I also bought a little blue bowl thing with a bird on it. It looks darling in the DR.

The newest additions to the LR!

Thanks to my mom and Red, I now have a lovely new console table for my living room - thanks guys! I also purchased a clock and a lamp to dress it up a bit. It still needs some color, and I need to hide the cords, but I had friends over last night and didn't have a chance to tweak it. Tonight I'll see if Dave will hang the clock up, and then I'm going to find some branches or something to put in the tall vase thingy.

My dear mother-in-law accompanied me to pick up the table, clock & lamp, and ended up purchasing three lovely mirrors for our house as well - thanks Barb! I am going to beg Dave to hang them up tonight and I'll post them tomorrow!

A house to a Home.

I'm trying. God knows I'm trying.

Horizontal?

Or vertical?

It's been awhile...

I'm trying to decorate. And it's hard. I am so not a decorator. If I had unlimited resources, I would hire a decorator. But I don't...so I hired my Aunt Liz. We spent all day on Saturday shopping and shopping and shopping. It was fun and exhausting! I got some great things, but now that I got some of them in the house, I'm just not sure they are going to work.

Curtains are my biggest issue. I desperately need something in the living room. We went to Pennys and bought two sets of curtains, but neither one of them looked good once I got them in the house. So I found some that I *love* at Country Curtains, and ordered them this morning. Hopefully they will work!

We finally started hanging up some wall stuff, so it's beginning to get a little more home-like. It's all a work in progress.

Furniture!

Okay, we FINALLY have furniture! I love it! It's a light green/khaki color and it goes perfectly in the house! It's really hard to take a good picture of it, but I tried! I also threw in some pictures of the kitchen, which is messy, but perfect for us!! We have lots and lots left to do, but we're making some good headway!

Paint! And updates!

Okay, time for some updates! The painting is complete, and the fun stuff has begun. Dave has finished installing the Hardibacker for the tile, and we have the hardwood floors sitting in the living room.
The front porch columns have been installed, and the concrete steps should be poured shortly!
Here are some updated pics:

SW Crystal Clear in the Dining Room.

Our painter, Martha. Love her! You can see the SW Crystal Clear color of the dining room behind her.

SW Spangle
Hallie's ULTRA-girlie room - much brighter than it appeared on the swatch!

SW Hinting Blue in the guest room
I love this color. It's also in the laundry room and half bath.

SW Cameo White in the Master bed, baths, hallways, foyers, LR and kitchen.
